Concept
This concept is inspired by current events. Psychologically it is damaging and overwhelming to watch from the comfort of our own homes and through the small screen on our phones innocent people murdered by security forces in the streets of an American city. When the government is the bad guy asking us to disbelieve our own eyes. It is hard to feel safe.
Sound Design
Sound Design is important. Scrolling for countless hours on a phone and seeing disturbing images makes it hard to care about anything other than the injustices in our country. We can feel frozen and utterly shocked at the disgusting ways people choose to act. This causes the mind to go into a cycle of extreme fear, anxiety, worry, and guilt. Yet we are able to find hope. The sound design includes recordings of the following. Boiling water, Reverbed glass scratches, frequencies 222Hz and 444Hz, fire from a torch lighter, wind chimes, and many distorted voice recordings. The audio is supposed to get the listener on edge, to raise the hairs on the back of their neck. It is because of the frequencies that the audio is able to draw you IN so deeply. The distorted voices throughout the second half of the video are phrases I recorded and put into a pitch shifter. I used reverbs and distortions to help emphasize the threatening feeling one gets when they feel powerless.
The voices might be unnerving but they voice:
“By your standards I am as much an alien as you are the devil” and “You have declared war. And I am willing to risk my life to kill every last one of you. Just like you are making stupid white nationalist do in the public streets of our country. This country will never be yours”.
These quotes are inspired by the thoughts and realities of man's inhumanity to other humans and concerns for the future state of this country and the world.
Story
Bunny man wants something only animals would want BUT Bunny man claims not to be an animal. Under Bunny Man's mask is probably another mask, permanently attached to his face. Bunny man thinks he is good and cannot see his evil ways. Bunny man doesn't think about causing harm on purpose. He simply does what he is told to do by the media and various political leaders. He views humans more as an extraterrestrial.. He and many others are taught to be sick of seeing them live with such drive and hunger for life.
Years after people started disappearing, places showed up where you could buy them, no name, no age, no papers.
Instead of returning humans to their homelands, humans were caged, nourished and sold for profit. In this scene and sold for profit. In this scene, Bunny man set up a meeting with a lucrative seller. The deal goes accordingly and he is successful in the trip. But the human is cold, afraid, and alone, forced to reside in a box of cold water to keep fresh. The human is then stuffed into a suitcase and eventually their existence is forgotten. At the end, the sellers push the tub of water onto the cement, and water floods the area. It's as if they are washing their hands or perhaps getting rid of evidence.
Final words
This is the level of absurdity and twistedness I believe the current administration has in their spirit. The things they are doing are just as unnerving and sadistic as the actions suggested in the video portion of this work.
The title "Low-Level Signal" refers to something constant, inescapable, and anxiety-inducing.
