The concept for this work comes from the common idiom “Picture Perfect”. In pre-existing societies beauty has been deemed of high importance. This happens across cultures. I believe as humans we often find ourselves feeling deep appreciation for the beauty of other people, it’s a natural phenomenon in human nature. We like beautiful things, beautiful people, and beautiful places but it's often forgotten that physical beauty is subjective. There will never be one standard of beauty able to cover the entire world. In society today it is apparent that the western standards for beauty have overtaken the media for a long time. The overall meaning of this work is to express the disconnect between wanting to be beautiful and the means and results of trying to achieve beauty that is outside of your reach. This work is supposed to represent how silly and eerie it is to try and fit into societal standards.
